ASUS ee pc
I have recently moved to a new school (I am a teacher) where there is
no use of Linux whatsoever. We are planning to give every year 7 a
mobile device to connect wirelessly at school and to be used at home.
My current preference is the Asus ee pc. I particularly like the fact
that it uses open source software partly to open the minds of our
students but also to reduce the £16000 bill we pay annually to
Microsoft. My new technicians can't make the Asus remember the wireless
connection at school or enable it to log on students so they can save
to their home area on the server at school. A friend of mine, who loves
Linux, says it is because the version of Linux on the Asus doesn't
recognise users but a different version would. I am in the North West
of England and would like some help to get this project off the ground.
If the project was successful we would then roll the program out to
other years too! The current suggestions is to wait for the more
expensive version of the Asus, which runs Windows XP, to come out. Yes
they are only £40 more but when you are buying 100 that is a lot more
spend.
Help would be greatly appreciated!
