changing a windows xp into linux

Hi all

thinking of taking the plunge,and leaving microsoft on the top shelf,gathering dust

the pc i have in mind for this,i dont have much history about it was given to me,only this

this pc has no name on front of tower
its running a windows xp pro ,tried to update this from microsoft ,but its says my copy is not real,this bit i dont under stand as in add and remove,there has been some updates downloaded.

not sure what else you would need to know,as this is an old pc,i dont mind unistalling windows,but what ever is easy,so what you guys think,is this old pc upto it

Yes, your old PC should be able to run Linux fine. I'd recommend trying Ubuntu[0], or for a smaller system-footprint (but less user-friendly) Xubuntu[1].

Installing Ubuntu iteself is fairly easy for someone who knows computers. It might be handy to have someone close who knows/uses linux, in case you run into any problems.

i have unistalled windoze xp,and now how ubuntu up and running
evrything works great,i did a problem with my wireless,but all is well now
