embeded or not?
Hi I'm researching a product we are developing, we have a working version running on a sbc (single board computer) using this lex
Its using a older Linux os that is proprietory and no longer
supported. I'm looking to improve this product but how do I tell if its
embedded (and go down something like the uclinux route) or able to run
a standard kernel version?
Any help at all would be appreciated
** thanks for looking but I'm sorted out now, its a x86 compatable system
Hello, welcome to Linux.co.uk!
Can you say how you found out? That way others in the same suituation may be able to be helped.
Thanks,
Johnathon
hi, firstly I dont reccomend doing this but I took the device appart
and under the passive heatsink was a serial number and revision number.
This lead me to the correct page in the manufacturers site, from
there I got the processor details (the system runs a proprietory bare
bones Linux distro meaning I couldn't ask the system for the details),
and this helped me identify the fact it was x86 compatible.
Oh, the day after all that the manufacture got back to me with the details
Tim
