Flash Linux
Can i run flash linux off a USB key but still use windows XP on my laptop. (not at the same time). But will this effect my XP system or will it just be as usual.
Hi, welcome to Linux.co.uk
Yes, you can use flash linux off of a USB key, and not affect your
XP system. Effectivly, by running flash linux, you are ignoring your
computers Hard drive (where windows will be installed). You can
probably access your harddrive from inside fl (says one who hasn't
played with it that much )
HTH,
Johnathon
Yellowcrest, watch this video tutorial if you want to install Linux
(recommended if you are going to be using it as a full desktop machine,
boots faster, more up-to-date software [flash linux is now quite old in
computing terms].):
Dual-Boot windows with Ubuntu Linux
Marc: You can use Flash Linux to try out a linux variant, with a
degree of permanence. Also, you can use it to transport your entire
O.S. and configuration between different machines quickly and easily.
You don't need to install anything on your computer, read the instructions on how to install it here:
http://www.flashlinux.org.uk/make
Note: Using a 256MB drive is extremely recommended, due to the way
that the filesystem (JFFS2) operates, in order not to kill your flash
memory...
